Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller, man what weak “DICKS” when compared to that [what my wife calls] creepy, pedophile Woody Allen. Lame, juvenile mugging and one joke story lines just don’t make the grade. My man Woody played a cello in a marching band in ” Take The Money and Run”. He tested sound systems for caskets in”Bananas”. He scared a lobster from behind a fridge with some melted butter in “Annie Hall’. He went way into the future to find out that smoking was good for us and health food was bullshit in “Sleeper”. This guy was Will’s andAdam’s and Ben’s Columbus braving the new worlds of dorkdom. Exploring the depth of our inadequacies far beyond Jerry Lewis’ “Hey Laady!!”. I am that horny loser who needs Humphrey Bogart to tell him ” that all the dames understand is a slap and a slug from a .45″ in “Play It Again Sam” to get the courage to seduce the woman just beyond his reach. Hey Will- Hey Adam - Hey Ben , Woody’s giant Tit from “Everything You Wanted To Know About Sex But Were Afraid To Ask” will always be in my movie memory. I’m not to sure about “Ricky Bobby”, “Billy Madison” or “Mr. Furious” Check out my films on blu-ray. BluFreak!!
Arthur Penn’s 1967 classic “Bonnie and Clyde” changed the landscape of American Cinema and opened the door for original voices such as Peckinpah, Schlesinger, and Hopper. What most film critics at the time wrote off as “trash” and “exploitation,” was quickly seen by the public as ground breaking, thrilling, and would go on to be nominated for eight Oscars.
Penn’s “Bonnie and Clyde” opened up the possiblity for real sexual conversation and true to life violence in American films, some things that had been in both French and Japanese films since the mid 40’s. If you have never seen the film, I’m sure you have seen Bonnie and Clyde getting shot to pieces in slow motion in still one of the best film shooting ever! What makes the film stand the test of time is the great performances from Warren Beatty as “Clyde Barrow,” Faye Dunaway as “Bonnie Parker,” Gene Hackman as “Buck Barrow,” and Estelle Parsons Oscar winning performance as Buck’s wife “Blanche.” This was also the first film produced by Beatty as well, showing his talent to be behind the camera that he would perfect with “Reds,” “Dick Tracy,” and “Bugsy.” Beatty was lucky to have been backed by Warner Bros. when the studio was in great transition and they paid little mind to what Penn and Beatty were making. Warner Bros. just hoping for another gangster movie, got what started the American Cinema revolution of the late 60’s and ended with Scorsese’s “Raging Bull” in 1980.
“Bonnie and Clyde” is a beautifully shot film that puts carnage on a canvas of the mid west’s rolling wheat fields admist the desperation of 1930’s America. Bonnie and Clyde were our last great outlaws before the television era, where their tale was larger than their lives. “Bonnie and Clyde” shows real human beings and not larger than life caricature of what they might have been.
“Bonnie and Clyde” pops on Blu Ray. People being ripped a part by bullets is always one of my favorite things to watch in HD! Faye Dunaway is beautiful, Beatty is hansome, and Hackman doesn’t look nearly as terrible as he does now. A great surround system, a 70 inch TV, and “Bonnie and Clyde” on Blu Ray is what this movie freak calls heaven. So go now and buy a copy for collection from BluHdFilms, so you don’t sound like a shithead the next time anyone intelligent talks to you about films! Blu Freak out
John Wayne made so many westerns that they tend to get mixed up in your mind. Most of these westerns suck, anything not directed by John Ford or Howard Hawks, with Wayne basically playing the same roll over and over again. In 1956 he teamed up with John Ford to make his best film “The Searchers.” John Wayne steps out of his normal tough good guy and comes the closest to a villainous role of his career. Wayne Plays Ethan Edwards, a Confederate Civil War vet that comes home to Texas to find his brother’s family killed and his bothers daughters kidnapped by Commanches. Ethan Edwards then goes out, with his one-eighth Cherokee adopted brother Martin Pawley (Jeffery Hunter), to find his brothers daughters. As the film goes on we began to question if Ethan plans to rescue the girls or kill them because they have become “one of them.”The other star of the film is Monument Valley, where the film was shot. The iconic shot of John Wayne walking out of the door into Monument Valley is one of the greatest visuals in American film making. John Ford made many films with both John Wayne and Monument Valley, but this is with out question the best film for all three!Do yourself and your Blu Ray collection a favor and pick up this classic at BluHdFilms.com today. If anyone tries to tell you about “True Grit” is Wayne’s best, punch them because they’re stupid. BluFreak Out!
- Goodfellas (1990)
- If I had to watch only one film for the rest of my life I would kill myself, but if I had to come up with an answer it would be Martin Scorsese classic “Goodfellas.” It might not even be Scorsese’s best film, “Taxi Driver” and “Raging Bull” have a strong argument, but I am transfixed and always amazed at how much is going on in this film. If you have never seen “Goodfellas” I recommend turning off American Idol and Dancing with the Stars, replacing your vagina, and getting some balls! Any real man has seen the film hundreds of times and can recite the entire Joe Pesci monologue. Its the story of Henry Hill, a want a be wiseguy growing up that makes it but blows it all on drugs, greed, and just being a complete shithead. I might be drawn to this film because I have known more that my fair share of morons like Henry. Scorsese is at the height of his powers, the film has an energy and passion that filmmakers would kill for, that only comes from when an artist really knows his subject. Every scene in the film is pitch perfect thanks to a perfect screenplay from Nicholas Pileggi, career best performances from Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci, Lorraine Bracco, and every guy from The Sopranos, plus the best soundtrack every to a film. There should be a law that only Martin Scorsese choose music for films; just watch the Laya scene showing the aftermath of the big heist and try to disagree. This film is a classic and if anyone ever tells you that they don’t like it - NEVER TALK TO THEM AGAIN!
- “Goodfellas” on Blu -Ray is AMAZING!!!!! The picture is great in 1080p high def, the soundtrack in Dolby Digital, and enough room on the disk for two commentaries and three documentaries. One commentary has every one from Scorsese to Ray Liotta to writer Nicholas Pileggi and a few more of those Sopranos cast members. The other commentary has Henry Hill and FBI agent Edward McDonald who put Hill in witness protection. It is great to hear what a drunk old mess Henry Hill has become. The only down side to Blu-Ray is Ray Liotta’s face is a little scary at times in High Def.
- If “Goodfellas” is not in your Blu-Ray collection, go to a mirror and ask yourself if you are a real movie fan and then come back and order the film from the only guys that know that “Dances with Wolves” stole the Oscar from “Goodfellas” in 1990 at BluHdFilms.com
- BluFreak - out
Hey BluFreak here, I think you know a lot more about someone by what they hate than what they like, so get a real feel for us at BluHdFilms here are the 10 films we will never sell.
- Crash (2004) - I know it won best picture and everyone loves it, but this movie really sucks balls. It is so predictable, poorly acted (Tony Danza is in it), and covers a theme that has been handled better at least a hundred other times. Paul Haggis has written some great films like “Million Dollar Baby” and “Flags of Our Fathers, but this seems like he went back to his “Facts of Life” days. If you want to watch a great film about race try the Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing”
- Vegas Vacation (1997) - Wow this is bad! I love the original Vacation film, but I would rather watch baby seals be clubbed to death than sit through this shit. What happened Chevy Chase?.
- Caddyshack II (1988) - Never try to replace Rodney Dangerfield and Billy Murray with Jackie Mason and Jonathan Silverman. Thats like putting shit on a plate and calling it lobster.
- Jersey Girl (2004) - Did Kevin Smith lose his balls. I have seen herpes medication ads that are better than this crap. Do you think George Carlin needs money this bad?
- Big Fish (2003) - Tim Button’s worst film ever! I didn’t have a good relationship with my dad, blah blah blah, my dad is full of shit, blah blah blah, forced weirdness, blah blah blah, happy ending. There now you never need to see this craptastic film.
- Alone in the Dark (2005) - This film is really just a place holder for any Uwe Boll film. This guy only makes shit, to the point that you think he is trying to make the film this shitty. Anyway, anything staring Christian Slater after 2000 should not be watched!
- Sherk 3 (2007) - My kid can watch Spongebob and Wonder Pets for 10 hours a day and after 25 minutes of this film she asked if we could leave because “this movie is really boring.” I am so proud of her!
- Big Momma’s House (2000) - Listen Martin Lawrence sucks, this movie sucks, and black guys dressing up as fat women sucks. Paul Giamatti would rather promote a gay porno film he was in than this display of shit.
- Godzilla (1998) - The formula is easy, guy in rubber suit and screaming Japanese people. How did they fuck it up this bad. I know Godzilla, Godzilla is my friend and sir you are no Godzilla.
- Masters of the Universe (1987) - This is the best He - Man movie they could make? I could make a better film with action figures and and a beta max camera. I have to think that Dolph Lundgren can not read or choses not to because he has only been in crap, yes including Rocky IV it sucked. There you have, don’t look forward to buying these on bluhdfilms.com anytime soon BluFreak out
